Mulberry Silk Flat Sheets

We do not think a flat sheet needs a rulebook. Some people tuck it tightly beneath the mattress and sleep between two neatly held layers. Others leave it loose because they like being able to move one light covering without moving the duvet. It can also be the single silk layer added to a bed that already has a fitted sheet you like.

That freedom is the reason we sell our mulberry silk flat sheets one at a time. You are not paying for pillowcases or a fitted sheet simply to get the piece you came for. Before choosing, picture how the sheet will be used on an ordinary night. The right size for a crisp hospital corner may not be the same size you would choose for a relaxed side drape.

A mattress size name does not tell us how much fabric you want hanging over the edge. Measure the mattress width and length, then add the drop needed on both sides. If the sheet will be tucked under the foot or sides, allow enough extra fabric to reach beneath the mattress without pulling every edge tight.

Compare that total with the finished measurements on the product page. A topper changes the height of the bed and can use up more of the drop than expected. If you are trying to cover the mattress itself rather than add a loose upper layer, an individual silk fitted sheet may make the bed easier to keep in place.

Our flat sheets come in 19, 22 and 25 Momme. The 19 Momme version has the lightest hand and is easy to move around the bed. Twenty-two Momme adds a little more body. Twenty-five Momme gives the same simple rectangle a fuller fall and makes the fabric feel more present when you pull it across the mattress.

Momme measures fabric weight; it does not decide the correct size or the best way to sleep. A higher number is not automatically better for a person who prefers a lighter top layer. The value of a silk top sheet is not only how it looks when the bed is made. It is the large surface moving against the body through the night. Mulberry silk has a smooth hand that may create less dragging against skin and hair than a rougher fabric. Its breathability can also help the bed feel less stuffy when the room or other layers are warm.

A sheet cannot promise deeper sleep, clearer skin or healthier hair. What it can do is remove one source of coarse contact and give you a layer that moves easily when you turn. For many sleepers, that small physical difference is the reason a flat sheet earns its place on the bed.

Large silk pieces need space. Follow the care label on the exact product. When machine washing is permitted, use cold water, minimal agitation, a neutral silk detergent and a roomy laundry bag. Do not crowd the drum with towels or clothing that can rub against the sheet.

Support the fabric as it dries instead of hanging all its wet weight from one corner. Keep it away from direct heat and strong sunlight. If a flat sheet is part of the everyday bed, a second piece in rotation gives the first one time to dry naturally.
