The Art of Silk Care

Caring for your THXSILK bedding and accessories is simpler than you think. Because we use only the highest grade 6A long-strand mulberry silk, our pieces are incredibly durable. With the right care, your silk sanctuary will maintain its radiant luster and frictionless softness for years to come.

  • Cold Water Only

Heat is silk's enemy. Always use cold water (under 30°C/86°F) to protect the natural protein fibers.

  • pH Neutral Detergent

Use only mild, pH-neutral liquid detergents specifically formulated for silk. Never use bleach or fabric softeners.

  • Gentle Machine Wash

Yes, our silk bedding is machine washable! Use a protective mesh laundry bag and the most delicate cycle available.

  • Air Dry in Shade

Never tumble dry. Lay flat or hang to dry away from direct sunlight to prevent color fading.

How to Machine Wash Silk Bedding

Our high-momme silk is woven to withstand regular washing. Follow these steps for an effortless wash day:

  1. Prepare: Turn your silk pillowcases and duvet covers inside out. Place all silk items inside large, fine-mesh laundry bags to protect them from snagging on the washing machine drum.
  2. Wash: Add a silk-friendly, pH-neutral detergent. Set your washing machine to the "Delicate," "Hand Wash," or "Silk" cycle. Ensure the water temperature is strictly cold.
  3. Dry: Remove the silk immediately after the cycle finishes to minimize wrinkling. Gently press out excess water with a clean towel (do not wring or twist). Hang the bedding on a smooth line or lay it flat indoors or in the shade.

How to Care for Silk Accessories

Items like silk sleep masks and scrunchies frequently absorb facial oils and rich hair products. We recommend a quick, gentle hand wash to keep them pristine.

  • Fill a basin with cold water and a few drops of silk detergent.
  • Submerge the accessories and gently agitate the water with your hands. Let them soak for no more than 3-5 minutes.
  • Rinse thoroughly with cold water.
  • Squeeze the water out gently by pressing the item between a dry, clean towel. Reshape and lay flat to dry.

Silk Care FAQs

Can I iron my silk bedding?

Most wrinkles will naturally fall out after a few nights of sleep. If you prefer a perfectly crisp look, you can steam the silk or iron it on the lowest/coolest setting while the fabric is still slightly damp. Always iron on the reverse (matte) side of the silk.

How often should I wash my silk pillowcases and sheets?

Because pure mulberry silk is naturally hypoallergenic and repels dust mites, it stays fresher longer than cotton. We recommend washing your silk pillowcases every 7-10 days, and your sheet sets every 1-2 weeks.
