Silk Blankets & Throws

At THXSILK, we do not save silk for special occasions. Our silk blankets and throws are made for the bed, the sofa and the quiet hour in between—a breathable layer you can reach for whenever the room turns cool. Choose a throw to keep close, a lighter cooling blanket for warmer nights or a bed-size blanket to share. We describe the shell and filling on every product page so you can choose the kind of silk construction you actually want.

Silk for the Moments Between Bedtime and Morning

We have always loved that a blanket can become part of a home without belonging to only one room. It may begin folded across the foot of the bed, move to the sofa after dinner and end up around your shoulders while the first coffee is brewing. Our silk blankets and throws are made for those unplanned, lived-in moments. They bring the lightness and drape people enjoy in silk bedding beyond the pillow and sheets, without the loft or bulk of a full comforter.

Silk settles rather than stands away from the body. That fluid drape gives you a close, reassuring layer while allowing heat and moisture to move more freely than they do beneath many heavy covers. On a cool evening, it offers gentle warmth. On a warm night, a lighter construction can give you the comfort of being covered without turning the bed into a stack of layers.

A Throw to Keep Close, or a Blanket to Share

For a reading chair, the sofa or one side of the bed, we recommend beginning with a throw. It is easy to move, generous enough for the lap and legs, and small enough to keep within reach. A larger throw gives you more room to curl up while keeping that same relaxed, portable feeling.

For the bed, choose by actual dimensions rather than the size name alone. Queen, King and Cal King blankets cover the mattress more completely, but the finished look depends on mattress depth and how much fabric you prefer at each side. We list measurements on every product page so you can decide whether you want a neat layer within the bed or a softer drop over the edge.

The Silk You Touch Matters as Much as the Silk Inside

We use different constructions because a blanket can serve more than one purpose. In styles with silk at the surface, the fabric gives skin the smooth, low-friction touch people come to THXSILK for. It can help reduce pulling and rubbing through the night, while the breathable fiber helps the layer stay comfortable as the temperature changes.

Other styles place silk filling beneath cotton, TENCEL™ Lyocell or another outer fabric. They feel different at first touch but still offer the flexible, light warmth of silk inside. Detachable covers simplify routine care, while stitched constructions help keep the filling evenly distributed. We describe the shell, filling and care separately on each product page because “silk blanket” should tell you exactly where the silk is used.

A Lighter Way to Make the Bed Feel Complete

There are nights when a comforter feels unnecessary, but a sheet alone does not feel restful. A silk blanket fills that space beautifully. Use it as the main top layer in a warm bedroom, place it between a sheet and comforter when the seasons are changing, or keep it at the foot of the bed for the cooler hours before morning.

If you regularly sleep warm, our silk cooling blankets bring the lightest options together. They do not refrigerate the bed; instead, their lighter, more breathable construction helps reduce the heat buildup that can make sleep feel unsettled. That is the kind of cooling we believe bedding should offer: quiet support for a more comfortable night, not an exaggerated promise.

Made to Be Used, Then Cared for with Intention

We want our silk blankets to be lived with. Before washing, check the label on the individual piece. Some washable or removable-cover styles fit easily into a gentle home routine; others are best cleaned locally or cared for professionally so the filling and finish keep their shape.

Between cleanings, give the blanket air. Shake it gently, let it rest in a shaded, ventilated place and avoid storing it tightly compressed beneath heavier bedding. If a blanket becomes part of your everyday sofa routine, a removable cover may be the most practical choice. Our silk care guide explains the general method, while the label on your blanket remains the final instruction.

FAQs

What is the difference between a silk blanket and a silk throw?

Our throws are smaller, easy-to-move layers for one person, a sofa or a reading chair. Our bed-size blankets are made to cover more of the mattress or add a full layer beneath a comforter. We recommend comparing the exact dimensions before choosing.

Can I use a silk throw on my bed?

Yes. We often use a throw across the foot of the bed, on one sleeper's side or as an easy layer for a nap. It will not provide the same full-width coverage as a Queen or King blanket.

Is a silk blanket the same as a silk comforter?

No. Our blankets are generally thinner and easier to move or layer. A silk comforter has more filling and is usually chosen as the bed's main source of warmth.

Which silk blanket is best for a warm sleeper?

We recommend beginning with one of our lightweight or cooling styles, then checking the shell, filling and size. The breathable, less bulky construction can help a warm sleeper feel more comfortable, although it does not actively lower the room temperature.

Can silk blankets be machine washed?

Only when the care label allows it. Our blanket constructions differ, so please follow the instructions attached to the piece you own rather than carrying one washing method across the collection.
