Our duvet cover is the smooth, removable layer around the outside. The insert inside creates the loft and most of the warmth. None of the covers or bedding sets on this page includes that filled layer. If you need one, compare a silk comforter with the cover measurements before placing both in the cart.

Keeping those jobs separate makes the bed easier to understand. Choose the insert for the season and the room; choose the cover for the surface you want against you and the look you want to wake up to.

The insert decides much of the warmth, but the cover is the part that moves against the body through the night. We use mulberry silk here for its smooth, fluid contact. It helps reduce the pulling and rubbing of a coarser weave, while the breathable fiber lets the layer feel lighter as warmth builds beneath the duvet.

That surface can be especially welcome around bare arms, shoulders, face and hair. It also changes the way the bed looks: silk reflects morning light and settles into softer folds than a crisp cotton weave. We smooth the bed, but we do not fight every fold. A lived-in silk bed should feel inviting, not staged.

We ask you to compare exact measurements rather than trusting Queen or King alone. A cover that is too large lets the insert wander; one that is too small bunches the filling. Attach the interior ties to compatible corner loops, ease the insert into each corner and close the invisible zipper.

For regular cleaning, remove the cover and care for it separately from the insert. Cold water, a gentle cycle, a roomy mesh bag and detergent made for silk keep the routine manageable.
